PERFORMER
Al Nesser is an accomplished singer, guitarist and performer. His big voice fills every venue with a warmth and a love that literally flows right off the stage, and feelable throughout the audience! His love for ordinary people is immense!
He has performed on-stage and in concert for many years in New York, Boston, Paris and several other locations all over the world. No stranger to TV and radio, he has been interviewed and performed live-in-studio in numerous settings. His genuine love for others makes him a very sought out personality.
He jokes around about his humble beginnings as a guitarist. "My Dad bought me a guitar when I was 14 years old," he says, "but it sounded terrible! So I threw it in the back of my closet for five years."
"When my Dad died, I tried again, but the guitar still sounded terrible. So, I took a couple of guitar lessons to see if that would help. Well, the first lesson, the teacher tuned my guitar; and the second lesson, he taught me how to tune it. Third lesson, I bought a tuner. And I've never had to pay for another lesson ever since."
Al Nesser was always singing, literally from the time he was born. Even as a baby, he was always vocalizing with an energy that was irresistable. His first lead role was at age 5 as Prince Charming in Sleeping Beauty while he was still in kindergarten. By age twelve, he was teaching and demonstrating dance in physical education classes. He joined dance troupes and quickly gained lead roles and supporting lead roles in major local musicals. His voice had a booming quality that broke loud and clear with a unique tonality reminiscent of the old-time vaudville era.
When he volunteered for the military, his naturally big booming voice was especially suited to becoming a drill instructor, where his highly trained marching corps were often unmatched on the drill fields. But as he was considering making the military his life-long career, the call of God came upon his life.
Al Nesser took to the highways across America, hitch-hiking and swapping stories, searching for a way to please God and to satisfy the Lord's rigorous requirements for righteous living. And suddenly, God made an appearance, and for the next 3 1/2 years, Al Nesser barely made a sound, intent only on hearing and obeying that heavenly voice. As supernatural gifts began to operate within his life, his voice returned.
The scriptures had become his life, and he constantly sought how to put them all into practice. He daily devoted himself to the study of God's Word, and constantly devoted his life to prayer.
As he studied the scriptures, he discovered God's secrets about how those who long for heaven often turn to music to take the place of that empty lonely longingness that they feel so deeply within their hearts. Music, drama, theater, these were the gifts God gave in the earth to people who longed to dream for a better world where love and harmony might dwell. His passion for the stage had been forged out of a deep desire to help his mother, who often battled with depression and suicide. And he did all he could to make her happy.
Still, his heart cried out for God continually. He sang everywhere he went, sharing his tales of life's experiences and hard work, encouraging everyone and anyone who would listen.
